Seven Years Ago...

I have been debating whether or not to put in some of our engagement and wedding photo's. I can't believe it's been seven years. Wow. Life is interesting. I know that I have changed a lot since our wedding day, but I have learned so much and am much better of a person than I was. I hope that as time goes on I will be able to continue to say that. When I was dating John my mom gave me some good advise. I knew that I loved him, but wasn't sure if I was ready for marriage (Yeah, and I was 25 which was an old maid here in Utah). She told me to read the story in the Book of Mormon regarding planting a seed. I read the following: Alma 32:30 But behold, as the seed swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, then you must needs say that the seed is good; for behold it swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow. Yea, it will strengthen your faith: for ye will say I know that this is a good seed; for behold it sprouteth and beginneth to grow. Alma 32:31 And now, behold, are ye sure that this is a good seed? I say unto you, Yea; for every seed bringeth forth unto its own likeness. Alma 32:33 And now, behold, because ye have tried the experiment, and planted the seed, and it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, ye must needs know that the seed is good. I wish that I could say that I have the perfect marriage, but I don't, and I have learned so much from the trials that I have been given. I am a very hard person to get a long with at times, and selfishness is very much a part of my natural being. However, I love being a wife and a mother. When I get down, discouraged, and down right sad...I remember those scriptures above, pull my bootstraps up, and dive in.

Ang, I always remember you telling me about when your Mom gave you this advice. I've used it several times in my life as well, for all sorts of situations. I remember when other friends were dating people and having the same questions I related these scriptures and told them about how you had applied them and it worked. I think you keep getting better and better as time goes on. And if you were an old maid at 25 then I must be the super old maid granny! Lol.
