Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful Christmas! John woke us up early in the morning to celebrate! It was wonderful seeing the magic of Christmas in Jaxon. John had a wonderful experience helping a Sub for Santa Family, and I enjoyed the day at our home, and spent some time with my dear mom at her home as well! The snow couldn't even stop me this year! I am so thankful for the Savior. What magic this time of year brings! May all of you enjoy this Christmas season by being close to family, friends, and remembering the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ!

I have had such a crazy few months! I have been working, and doing some seasonal work which takes up a majority of my time! I have so much to catch up on and I promise it's coming soon! Stay tuned!

Politics & Marriage - Please VOTE!

I know I have been somewhat political in my blog recently, however, I firmly believe that this is the time to be political. I strongly want to reiterate that marriage is solely between a man and a woman! Please vote everyone! Remember November 4, 2008!

Sign of the times - Help Wanted!

I have finally accepted a position in Sales. Part-time. I am taking solace in hoping that one of these days we will have the opportunity to expand our family, and I have chosen not to return to a few career opportunities. I am excited, but nervous about the economy. I have accepted a few other positions (at companies I am sure would not appreciate being named...but they were very good jobs at very good and well known companies), and then before my start date I have been notified "because of the state of the economy...all new positions have been eliminated". It has happened four times! And even happened to me with one Government agency that I was really looking forward to working for! I feel fortunate that John takes such good care of us financially, but it is really scary what is happening on Wall street (real estate, etc), and how it is starting to trickle down and change us here in Utah. I took Jaxon on a lunch date today and the restaurant didn't have more than 10 people in it for over one hour! It was crazy, and it's a really popular restaurant in West Jordan! I know that John and I have buckled down and have stopped spending money on things that we don't need, but I am starting to realize how things are getting out of hand. Today I thought, maybe I shouldn't eat out for a few months because my experience today was just too scary! I overheard a corporate retail giant manager (out schmoozing at the restaurant) say that they expect higher sales during the week of Halloween than any other week for the rest of the year. That is sad.

And now on to politics. I am perplexed. John wants to put up an Obama sign in the yard. He has so far respected my wishes, but I have been struggling to chose the candidate of my choice. I feel very strongly that my vote can't be wasted. I have thought about this a lot and have decided to chose a candidate that most closely represents the Proclamation to the Family. I am still doing my research, but I do extremely believe that we need change here in America. Now here is the caveat...as long as it's good change! Who can we really trust as Americans? Why do so many of us feel that our wishes aren't heard? Why are we expected to pay for so many mistakes of our Political advisers or their associates (AIG)? Why have so many Americans forgotten about what is "right" and what is "wrong" morally, financially, economically, socially, and politically. That being said, I can respect all opinions. I mean, as I mentioned before John has different views than I do politically...and we are married! I just want to say that I am proud to be an American. I hope that we return to some of the same values that helped us become the great nation...the one that we should be!

My baby is 6!

I am so thankful to have such a wonderful son! He has truly been my brightness of hope! He was born on a rainy day in October. I was so ready to have him! I was sick my entire 9 months. I even had a pick line in my arm for anti-nausea medication and steroids to keep us both alive. The week before he was born I kept feeling really sick. I went to the hospital three times and they sent me home each time. Finally, my dad gave me a blessing, and I took my temperature. It was 103! I called John home from work and went into the hospital. Dr. Jones immediately broke my water and put me on antibiotics. I was in labor the entire night. No sleep. Finally at 9am Dr Jones came into my room and told us that if I couldn't progress in the next few minutes I would have to C-section. I was scared to death to have a c-section and thank goodness I did progress because he was born at 9:36 just as the Music and the Spoken Word was starting.

I was so relieved.

Jaxon was born with an amazing personality. He is very smart, and funny. He is a little spoiled (ok maybe a lot), but is so giving and kind. When I am feeling sad, sick, or just tired he will come up and throw his arms around me and say "mom, your the most beautiful girl in the world!" He is considerate of others (for the most part), and is the first to see when something isn't being done correctly, or when someone is choosing the wrong. We love you Jaxon!

Saturday - The birthday party

We threw together a birthday party for Jaxon at the last minute. Jaxon was born six years ago on conference weekend, and so every year we move his birthday celebrations around. We decided to throw a small party during the conference break on Saturday. It turned out great! It didn't distract from conference, and we had lunch and a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone who came and helped out. Having 12 (5 & under) kids in the house was a lot of work!

John set up a tent in the basement for Jaxon and his buddies to watch a movie.

We decided to leave the "grown ups" upstairs, and have the kids party in the basement. We have 1600 sq feet of unfinished space to its great for kids to run around. And I didn't have to worry about cake in the carpet!

Friday - Treats & Frightmares!

Jaxon has a great teacher. She has been teaching for 27 years! Jaxon just loves her! She had all the kids sing the birthday song. He thought that was pretty cool!

We took advantage of our Lagoon passes and headed up to Fright-mares. I haven't been before. It was cute, and fun. Jaxon loved the spook a boo, and I loved being at an amusement park in weather I wasn't dying in.

My latest cry spell

As most of you know I am blogging because I am not a scrapbook person! I am a journal keeper, and this is one way that I can combine the two. These are my personal thoughts, feelings, moments, friends, family, and life.
I am having a hard day today. I woke up feeling like I have a major cold coming on. I found out that my thyroid is not working, and I have more girl problems than I care to discuss. Anyhow, I took Buck to the vet tonight. It was traumatic for both of us. You see, I took Buck home with us when my dad was really sick in the hospital. He was my dads dog. He is such a good dog! He is nearly 12 years old, which is pretty old for a Golden Retriever. When I went to check Buck in for his shots and grooming I totally broke down. I started crying so hard that the office manager and another woman in line started tearing up as well. There was a mix up with my appointment, but that's not what set me crying. It was thinking about how Buck WAS my dad's dog, and now he's mine. I thought about the message that my dad left on my answering machine last year after I lost the baby. Sometimes when I play it both Buck and I sit on the kitchen floor and cry. I have never cried like that in public in my life! I wasn't embarrassed though. I excused myself and found that by exposing my emotions I drew several strangers into my mist. Several caring people that I would have never thought to share something like that with. It was a very interesting, and spiritual experience. So on the lighter side of things, I felt like my dad would have been laughing at me because I'm in a store where dogs poop on the floor and I'm standing there crying. I could hear my dad say, "don't cry. You've just had a crappy day!" And for those of you that know dad...he wouldn't have said crap. Hee hee.

John and Jaxon after our tour of the Old Coronado Hotel. It is beautiful. There was a wedding on the beach during our tour. It was so beautiful, but I must say, nothing compares to my wedding day! A temple wedding is more beautiful than any wedding I have ever seen!

The Blue Bayou

When John and I were on our Honeymoon in California we went to Disneyland. Well there are two things that you usually do on a honeymoon and one of them is eating (you sicko's). So John took me to the Blue Boyou inside Disneyland. We had such a romantic dinner. So every year we go to Disneyland we make reservations. This time Rebecca & Young came with Alyssa.

I tried to find a picture of John and I eating on our honeymoon, but it's somewhere in the rubble downstairs... Yikes!

Life at the Beach

Jaxon told me that he wants to move to California and live on the beach. My response was this, "well, sweetheart...you need to finish college (BYU), go to medical school, and then buy a big house on the beach where mommy & daddy can live with you! He said "Ok!... (pause) Dad, I'm going to have to go to college before I become a rock star!"

LOL...anyone been on the tower of terror?

I have to say this is my new favorite ride. It took a few times to Disneyland to get the guts up to go on it, but wowee...how fun! After about three times you start to feel brave enough to keep your hands up the entire ride. By doing that your bum comes off the seat several times and you really feel like you are free falling in an elevator. Hmmm. I might not be able to do the elevator at the empire state building again after this!

Disney or Bust 2008

We just got back from the big family reunion in South Cali. It was so much fun. Spending 7 days in Southern California... um, yeah, I could live there! We did Disneyland again, only this time with the entire extended family. Thanks Mom & Dad it was a blast. The weather was nice, hot, and humid, but not as bad as it is in the summer. Thanks to everyone who made this family trip so much fun and memorable. Yes, we drove again. It's not so bad now that we know our way around California. LOL. Hee hee. Next time I will remember the CD case!!!

Kindergartener Cop

I just have to tell a funny story. For several years Jaxon has been our little "word policeman." He knows that "stupid, dummy, jerk, punk, and shut up" are bad words (as well as a few others I won't name...I might add). Sometimes It's funny to see him go to school or other places and be the little word policeman. I think it's cute. I overheard him tell another boy on the playground yesterday that "STUPID IS A BAD WORD!" I had to laugh because the other boy said, "no it's not...my mom says it all the time!" LOL!

Lagoon - It's what fun is!

Allison, Megan, Drea, Amanda, Lexi, Kristen, and Zac just left our house. We had a fun night at Lagoon. Megan and Drea - Happy sweet sixteen. I hope you got your wish! LOL! We sure had fun. I especially loved it when I hit your car with a slice of pizza! What a blast! The show was such fun, and I am so glad that we were able to see JT.
